A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

1995

MUSWELL HILL

The Laboratory Spa & Health Club in Muswell Hill was the first to open in 1995 and was an immediate success. Membership opened whilst the Club was still under construction and prospective members were signed up in porta cabins in the garden! It was soon clear that local residents had been crying out for the kind of facilities we were offering and the club was soon going from strength to strength.

The building itself was not purpose built and in fact was originally the site of an old British Rail paint Laboratory (hence the unusual name!). Prospective members are often very curious as to why the Lab has the name it does, and what the building was in it's previous incarnations. You might have already discovered that you can still see part of the old railway line that runs along the part of the boundary of our land, and of course our nearest neighbour is the impressive structure of Alexandra Palace and it's beautiful grounds.

1999

MILL HILL

Following the success of the Muswell Hill Club, the Mill Hill branch opened in 1999, aiming to offer similar high end facilities in another affluent area of North London. Though quite different in layout, the Mill Hill club is a very impressive and spacious club which has again proven to be successful and in demand. Like it's sister club, Mill Hill was not purpose built and previously was called Dolphin Squash club with Squash courts and a swimming pool that was located where the Juice Bar is now.

Prior to this, the grounds belonged to Wingate FC, who in 1972 lost their ground at Hall Lane, Hendon, due to the extension of the Ml Motorway.
